Visit to Japan by Professor Vitit Muntarbhorn, UN Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea

  1. Professor Vitit Muntarbhorn, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) (Professor of Chulalongkorn University, Thailand), will visit Japan from 10 to 14 December to investigate the human rights situation in North Korea.
  2. During his stay, Professor Muntarbhorn will exchange opinions on the human rights situation in DPRK, including abduction issues, with government officials such as senior officials of the Foreign Ministry, families of abductees and others. Professor Muntarbhorn will also attend events related to the North Korean Human Rights Abuses Awareness Week.
