Visit to Japan by Dr. Kemal Dervish, the Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)

- Dr. Kemal Dervish, the Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), will visit Japan from December 5 (Tue) to 7 (Thu).
- During his stay, Dr. Dervish will exchange views with Mr. Taro Aso, Minister for Foreign Affairs, and other relevant officials of the Government of Japan. Dr. Dervish will also attend the international symposium on human security.
- In cooperation with the UNDP, Japan has provided a variety of aid that attaches importance to the viewpoint of "Human Security", for examples, peace-building, support for gender equality, and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). It is expected that this visit to Japan by Dr. Dervish will further enhance the Japan-UNDP cooperative relations.
- This is the second visit to Japan by Dr. Dervish as the UNDP administrator and the first was in December 2005.
