Minister for Foreign Affairs MACHIMURA Nobutaka to Visit U.S.A.

- Mr. MACHIMURA Nobutaka, Minister for Foreign Affairs, will visit New York, U.S.A., from September 13 (Tue) to 19 (Mon).
- During his stay, Mr. MACHIMURA will take part in the general debate at the 60th Session of the U.N. General Assembly, and, taking this opportunity, he will hold talks with high ranking U.N. officials, including Mr. Jan Eliason, President of the General Assembly. Mr. MACHIMURA will also hold various bilateral meetings with his counterparts as well as multilateral meetings including Japan-EU Troika Foreign Ministers' Meeting. At the request of Prime Minister Koizumi Junichiro, Mr. MACHIMURA will also attend the U.N. Security Council summit meeting on September 14 as Prime Minister's representative.
