Holding of Global Festa Japan 2005 and Appointment of Goodwill Ambassador

"Global Festa Japan 2005 - from "knowledge" to "action": Challenge to Millennium Developmental Goals" will be held on Oct 1 (Sat) and 2 (Sun), 2005, in Tokyo (Hibiya Park), co-organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), and Japan NGO Center for International Cooperation (JANIC).
Until last year, the event was held annually under the name of "International Cooperation Festival." This year marks the fifteenth anniversary of this biggest international cooperation event in Japan. In order to encourage public participation from the young generation and those who are not familiar with international cooperation, the name has been changed to "Global Festa Japan 2005."
As this year 2005 happens to be an interim review year of the Millennium Developmental Goals (MDGs), the main theme of the event is intended to boost public awareness of MDGs in Japan.
Actress, Ms. Riho Makise has been nominated as "Goodwill Ambassador to Global Festa Japan 2005" to get the message across to the public. She will participate in the public relations activities and in several events of the Global Festa Japan 2005.
