Noh Performance for 2005 Japan-EU Year of People-to-People Exchange

- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 2005 Japan-EU Year of People-to-People Exchange, will sponsor Noh performances by Association for Japanese Noh Plays in Warsaw, Poland, on July 29 (Fri) and in Vilnius, Lithuania, on July 31 (Sun), to promote better understanding of Japan among the newly acceded EU countries.
- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is sponsoring these Noh performances as one of its large-scale cultural projects. The performers are: Kiyokazu Kanze, Grand Master of the Kanze school; Nomura Man, a National Living Treasure of the Izumi school of Kyogen; Kamei Tadao, a National Living Treasure of the Kadono school of percussion and others. "Aoi no Ue" (Noh) and "Kazumo" (Kyogen) will be performed.
- In Warsaw, the performance is to be held in the city's Dramatic Theater, before an audience of about 600 including Ms. Izabela Jaruga-Nowacka, Deputy Prime Minister. In Vilnius, an audience of 650 including the Minister of Culture, will experience this Japanese traditional art at the National Drama Theater.
