World Civilization Forum 2005

- The World Civilization Forum 2005 will be held on July 22 (Fri) (10:15 - 18:30) in Tokyo (United Nations University).
- Under the theme "How to bring young people together to overcome difference in the world", the Forum will bring together leading experts from around the world to sum up the lessons of the 20th century characterized by economic development, phenomenal progress of science and technology, respect for human rights, transformation in culture and arts, and wars and revolutions. The Forum will also discuss possible theoretical and systematic frameworks to create a new paradigm for the 21st century, and will propose them for the world.
- The Forum will comprise the following three sessions: 1. Partnership for Justice, Fairness and Equity in the Globalizing World, 2. Development as Capability Expansion: Alternative Paths to Justice, Freedom and Well-being, 3. The Arts in the Age of Globalization.
- The Forum, chaired by Harvard University Professor Amartya SEN, will include the following as panelists: Minister of Economy and Planning of Saudi Arabia, Khalid bin Mohammed AL-GOSAIBI; President of Institute for Interreligious Dialogue / Advisor to Iranian President Khatami, Seyed Mohammad Ali ABTAHI; First President of Zambia, Kenneth David KAUNDA; former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Korea, HAN Seung-soo; and Professor of the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies of Johns Hopkins University in the U.S., Francis FUKUYAMA.
