Minister for Foreign Affairs Nobutaka Machimura to Visit the U.S. and France

- Mr. Nobutaka Machimura, Minister for Foreign Affairs, will visit New York, Washington, D.C. and Paris from April 28 (Thu) to May 4 (Wed).
- During his stay in New York, Mr. Machimura will exchange views on the UN Security Council reform and major international issues with Mr. Kofi Annan, UN Secretary-General, Mr. Jean Ping, President of the UN General Assembly, and representatives of major UN member countries. He will make a policy speech titled, "Japan's Global Strategy and Japan-U.S. Global Partnership on the 60th Anniversary of the End of World War II," under the auspices of the Japan Society. Mr. Machimura will also deliver a statement at the 2005 NPT (Non-Proliferation Treaty) Review Conference.
- During his stay in Washington, D.C., Mr. Machimura will meet with Dr. Condoleezza Rice, U.S. Secretary of State, on May 2, to exchange views on the common issues between Japan and the U.S.
- In Paris Mr. Machimura will attend the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting and the WTO Informal Ministerial Meeting.
