Visit to Japan by Mr. Kofi Annan, Secretary-General of the United Nations

- Upon invitation by Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Kofi Annan, Secretary-General of the United Nations, accompanied by Mrs. Annan, will conduct a working visit to Japan from December 9 (Fri) to 12 (Mon).
- During his stay, Mr. Annan will meet Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, Chief Cabinet Secretary Shinzo Abe, Minister for Foreign Affairs Taro Aso and other officials to exchange views on various issues concerning the international community, including United Nations and its Security Council reform.
- It is expected that through Mr. Annan's visit, the UN will deepen its understanding on matters of concern to Japan and that the cooperative relationship between Japan and the UN will be further promoted.
