Holding of European Autumn Festival in Hibiya and the Attendance of Mr. Taro Aso, Minister for Foreign Affairs, at the Opening Ceremony

  1. Mr. Taro Aso, Minister for Foreign Affairs, will attend the opening ceremony of the "European Autumn Festival in Hibiya", from 11:00 on 12 November, 2005 in Tokyo (Small Music Hall in Hibiya Park).

    H. E. Mr. Graham Holbrook Fry, British Ambassador to Japan, H. E. Mr. Bernhard Zepter, Ambassador, Head of Delegation of the European Commission, members of diplomatic missions and organizations related to Japan-Europe relations will also attend the opening ceremony.
  2. "European Autumn Festival in Hibiya" will be held on Nov 12 (Sat) and 13 (Sun), 2005, in Tokyo (Hibiya Park) to mark the final stage of "2005 EU-Japan Year of People-to-People Exchanges."

    In this event, visitors will have opportunity to experience people-to-people exchanges between Japan and Europe through various programs on the 25 Member Countries of the European Union offered at information booths, foods & drink corner, music/dance shows on stage, lectures and workshops etc.
  3. Sixty young people invited from Europe by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a study tour to Japan, will also participate in this event. They will hold lectures or workshops for children and introduce their countries in national booths.
  4. The year 2005 is designated as "EU-Japan Year of People-to-People Exchanges" and in this framework more than 1600 events (as of November) for mutual exchange are registered both in Japan and the 25 EU Member Countries.
