Mr. MACHIMURA Nobutaka, Minister for Foreign Affairs, to Attend the Japan-U.S. Security Consultative Committee (the 2+2 Meeting) and Meet with Mr. Steven Hadley, National Security Advisor to the President of the United States

  1. Mr. MACHIMURA Nobutaka, Minister for Foreign Affairs, will visit Washington, D.C., U.S., from October 28 (Fri) to 31 (Mon) to attend the Japan-U.S. Security Consultative Committee (the "2+2" Meeting).
  2. Following the acknowledgement of the Common Strategic Objectives at the "2+2" Meeting held in February this year, consultations have been held on the roles, missions and capability of Japan and the U.S. and the realignment of the U.S. Forces. At the forthcoming "2+2" Meeting, there will be discussions on these issues as well as a summary of up to this date.
  3. Taking the opportunity of this visit, Mr. MACHIMURA will also have talks with Mr. Steven Hadley, National Security Advisor to the President of the United States, on the 28th to exchange views on future Japan-U.S. relations and matters of common concern between the two countries.
