The Fourth Japan-PIF Summit Meeting

- The Fourth Japan-Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Summit Meeting will be held on May 26 (Fri) and 27 (Sat) of the year 2006 in Okinawa Prefecture.
- The Summit Meeting will be co-chaired by Mr. Junichiro Koizumi, Prime Minister of Japan, and Sir Michael Somare, Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea.
- At the Meeting, 14 PIF member countries and two regions will get together to exchange frank opinions on such matters as the situation in the Pacific region and Japan-PIF relations.
- In this connection, a dialogue will be held on October 28 (Fri) and 29 (Sat) in Port Moresby, the capital of PNG, between the PIF and Post-Forum Dialogue Partner countries to discuss the Summit Meeting. Ambassador Tatsuo Arima, Special Envoy of the Government of Japan, will attend the Post-Forum Dialogue Partners Meeting.
