Visit to Japan by a Delegation led by Dr. Mohammed Bahr Al Uloom, Chairman of the Governing Council of Iraq

- A delegation of 21 persons of the Governing Council of Iraq (members, substitutes, ministers and others) led by Dr. Mohammed Bahr Al Uloom, Chairman of the Governing Council of Iraq for March, will visit Japan from March 23 (Tue) to 25 (Thu).
- While in Japan, the delegation will pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi to exchange views on the future political process in Iraq and Japanese assistance for the reconstruction of Iraq. The Government of Japan will explain its assistance for the reconstruction of Iraq.
- The Governing Council is the main organization that represents the interests of the Iraqi people to the international community and appoints interim ministers and oversees the interim administration during the transitional period until an interim government is established at the end of June this year. Some of its members and ministers headed by the current chairman (by monthly rotation under which Dr. Mohammed Bahr Al Uloom is the chairman for March) will visit Japan.
