Visit to Japan by Mr. Kofi Annan, Secretary-General of the United Nations

- Mr. Kofi Annan, Secretary-General of the United Nations, will pay a working visit to Japan from February 21 (Sat) to 25 (Wed) upon the invitation by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan.
- During his stay in Japan, Mr. Annan will be received by His Majesty The Emperor of Japan. The Secretary-General will also meet with Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and Foreign Minister Yoriko Kawaguchi to have a close exchange of views on matters confronting the international community, such as Iraqi affairs and UN reform. Mr. Annan is also scheduled to deliver a speech at the Diet.
- The Secretary-General's visit to Japan is expected to further promote the cooperative relationship between Japan and the UN toward a strengthened international framework centered on the UN.
