TICAD III Senior Official-level Preparatory Meeting

1. The Government of Japan will hold the TICAD III Senior Official-level Preparatory Meeting on March 3 (Mon) and 4 (Tue) in Addis Ababa, the capital of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
   
   
2. The Meeting will be attended by Mr. Tetsuro Yano, Senior Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, representing Japan, vice-ministerial and director-general level officials from Africa, Asia and donor countries, and representatives of international, regional and nongovernmental organizations.
   
   
3. The Meeting will discuss TICAD III's agenda, concept and outputs, and aim at raising interests and participation awareness for TICAD III among the international society, while Japan expresses its basic stance on TICAD III.
   
   
4. The purpose of this Meeting is to set up a preparatory process with the international community including African countries that would pave the way for the success of TICAD III to be held from September 29 to October 1 this year.
