Visit to Japan of His Excellency Mr. Nong Duc Manh, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam (Announcement by the Press Secretary/Director-General for Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs)

His Excellency Mr. Nong Duc Manh, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, accompanied by a suite, will pay an Official Visit to Japan from October 2 to 5, 2002.

During his stay in Japan, the General Secretary will be received in audience by His Majesty The Emperor of Japan. The General Secretary will also hold a meeting with Mr. Junichiro Koizumi, Prime Minister of Japan. The Prime Minister of Japan will host a Dinner in honor of the General Secretary.

The Government of Japan sincerely welcomes the visit of the General Secretary, which will further strengthen the friendly relations existing between Japan and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.

*The dates of the Imperial Audience, the meeting with Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and the dinner hosted by the Prime Minister of Japan are yet to be decided.
