Ceremony to Launch the Japanese Delegation to the World Summit on Sustainable Development (Johannesburg Summit)

1. A "Ceremony to Launch the Japanese Delegation to the World Summit on Sustainable Development (Johannesburg Summit)", co-hosted by Foreign Minister Yoriko Kawaguchi and Environment Minister Hiroshi Ohki, will be held on August 21 (Wed) from 15:30 to 16:30 at Mita Kaigisho.
   
   
2. The ceremony will give the Japanese Delegation an opportunity to gather together before departing for Johannesburg and will be attended by those concerned from NGOs, economic and labor circles, and local governments who will take part in the Johannesburg Summit, and also ambassadors of various countries to Japan, representatives of international organizations stationed in Japan, goodwill ambassadors of international organizations, and other officials.
   
   
3. The participants from every sector of Japan will show their determination to deal in concert with the issue of sustainable development at the Johannesburg Summit.
