Japan-EU Regulatory Reform Dialogue on Telecommunications

- The Japan-EU (European Union) Regulatory Reform Dialogue on Telecommunications will be held on March 12 (Mon) and 13 (Tue) at the Mita House in Tokyo.
- The attendants to the meeting will include, on the Japanese side, Mr. Hitoshi Tanaka, Director-General of the Economic Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as the head of the delegation, and representatives of other authorities concerned; and on the EU side Mr. Roderick Abbott, Deputy Director-General, Directorate General Trade, European Commission, as the head of the delegation, and others concerned from the Directorate General Information Society of the European Commission.
- At the meeting, there will be mutual exchange of views on regulations in the field of telecommunications.
(NB) The Japan-EU Regulatory Reform Dialogue has been ongoing since 1994. During this fiscal year, three meetings were held, namely, in October 2000 in Tokyo, January 2001 in Brussels and February 2001 in Tokyo. The issues in the field of telecommunications were not discussed at the meeting held in February this year.
