Visit to Japan by Mr. Mike Moore, Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO)

  1. Mr. Mike Moore, Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), will visit Japan from 30 (Tue) to 31 (Wed) January as a Guest of the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan.

  2. During his stay in Japan, Mr. Moore will have talks with Mr. Yohei Kono, Minister for Foreign Affairs, and other relevant Ministers and officials.

  3. At this juncture, the WTO members are coordinating with each other in a process to launch a new round of negotiations at the WTO, and the Fourth Ministerial Conference is expected to be held within this year. The purpose of Mr. Moore's visit is to exchange views with Japanese government officials and others involved in WTO issues concerning the launch of a new round and related matters.
