Visit to Japan of His Excellency Mr. Gerhard Schroder, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany

October 5, 1999

    His Excellency Mr. Gerhard Schroder, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, accompanied by a suite, will pay an Official Visit to Japan from October 31 to November 2, 1999.
   During his stay in Japan, the Chancellor will be received in audience by His Majesty The Emperor of Japan.
   His Majesty The Emperor will host a Court Luncheon in honor of the Chancellor.
   The Chancellor will also hold a meeting with Prime Minister of Japan Keizo Obuchi.
   The Prime Minister will host a Dinner in honor of the Chancellor.
   The Government of Japan sincerely welcomes the visit of the Chancellor, which will further strengthen the friendly relations existing between Japan and the Federal Republic of Germany.

Provisional Itinerary

October 31 (Sun) Morning Arrival at Nagoya Airport
Visit to Toyohashi
Evening Transfer to Tokyo
November 1 (Mon) Morning Welcoming Ceremony at Akasaka Palace
Afternoon Imperial Audience, followed by Court Luncheon (Imperial Palace)
Evening Talks with the Prime Minister of Japan, followed by Dinner hosted by the Prime Minister (Prime Minister's Official Residence)
November 2 (Tue) Afternoon Luncheon by Economic Organizations (Hotel New Otani)
Press Conference (Japan National Press Club)
Symposium co-hosted by Asahi Shinbun and German Embassy entitled
"Challenge of Globalization" (Hotel New Otani)
Evening Departure from Tokyo International Airport, Haneda
