Mr. Ryutaro Hashimoto, Senior Foreign Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister, to Visit Kenya and South Africa

- Mr. Ryutaro Hashimoto, Senior Foreign Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister, will visit Kenya from January 11 (Mon.) to 13 (Wed.), followed by a visit to South Africa from 13 (Wed.) to 16 (Sat.).
- During his stay in Kenya, Mr. Hashimoto will have talks with top officials of the Kenyan government including President Daniel Arap Moi and will visit Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, for which Japan is providing economic cooperation, and other facilities.
In South Africa, he will have talks with Deputy President Thabo Mbeki, Foreign Minister Alfred Nzo and other South African leaders. Mr. Hashimoto will also attend a presentation ceremony of medical equipment donated by a grant-in-aid from Japan.
- At the same time as the forthcoming visit, working level consultations of the Japan-South Africa Partnership Forum will be held in Pretoria, the capital of South Africa. This was established as the two governments' policy dialogue forum under an accord between Deputy President Mbeki and then Prime Minister Hashimoto when Mr. Mbeki visited Japan last April.
- On his way back, Mr. Hashimoto will stop off in Singapore to have talks with Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong.
