Visit to Japan by Mr. Alberto Fujimori, President of the Republic of Peru

June 24, 1998

1. Mr. Alberto Fujimori, President of the Republic of Peru, accompanied by a suite, will visit Japan from June 28 (Sun.) to July 1 (Wed.).

2. During his stay in Japan, Mr. Fujimori will meet with His Majesty The Emperor of Japan. He will also have talks with Prime Minister Ryutaro Hashimoto and attend the 5th Symposium on Latin America and the Caribbean to be held under the joint auspices of the Inter-American Development Bank and the Export-Import Bank of Japan.

3. Mr. Fujimori has visited Japan in the nine consecutive years since 1990 when he was elected president. His forthcoming visit is expected to contribute to further promoting friendly cooperative relations between Japan and Peru.
