State Secretary for Foreign Affairs Koumura to Attend the Second WTO Ministerial Conference

  1. Mr. Masahiko Koumura, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs, will visit the Swiss Confederation from May 17 (Sun.) to 21 (Thu.) to attend the second World Trade Organization Ministerial Conference to be held from May 18 (Mon.) to 20 (Wed.) in Geneva. He will return to Japan on May 22 (Fri.).

  2. At the conference, there will be examination of the implementation of WTO agreements and discussions on future work plans toward further negatiations for liberalization in and after the year 2000.

  3. The first conference was held in Singapore in December 1996.
