Visit to Japan by Dr. Armando Calderon Sol,President of El Salvador
October 14, 1997
- Dr. Armando Calderon Sol, President of the Republic of El
Salvador, will visit Japan from October 20 (Mon.) to 23
(Thu.).
- During his stay in Japan, the President will make a State
Call on His Majesty The Emperor of Japan and will have
talks with representatives of the Japanese Government and
business circles.
- Among the Latin American countries, El Salvador is
particularly known for feeling close to Japan, because
the two countries have many common aspects such as dense
population, diligent people and recovery from the
devastation after a war.
El Salvador has promoted the peace process through a presidential election (1994) and two parliamentary elections (1994 and 1997) since the
Peace Accords were signed in 1992 after a long-lasting
internal conflict. The country has also succeeded in
recovery from war devastation through economic
liberalization.
