Grant-in-Aid to Egypt for Project for Development of Maadia Fishing Port

June 3, 1997

The Government of Japan has decided to extend a grant-in-aid totaling up to 1,126 million yen (up to 582 million yen for FY1997, up to 544 million yen for FY1998) to the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt for its Project for Development of Maadia Fishing Port.

With this aid, the Government of Egypt intends to construct facilities at the fishing port, with a view to increasing the catch and the consumption of marine products, ensuring safety for fishing boats within the port, and improving water quality in the lake adjacent to the port.

Notes to this effect were exchanged between the two governments on June 3 (Tue.) in Cairo.
