Statement by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan on Accession of the Russian Federation to the World Trade Organization (WTO)

I welcome Russia’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) on August 22.
Japan has consistently supported the accession of Russia to the WTO. Japan expects that the accession will strengthen the multilateral trading system and thereby contribute to further development of the global economy. Furthermore, Japan hopes that economic relations between Japan and Russia will further expand through the improvement of the trade and investment climate in Russia.
