Emergency Grant Aid for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons by the Political Instability in Syria

  1. On Friday, February 24, the Government of Japan decided to provide US$3 million in Emergency Grant Aid for refugees and internally displaced persons, etc., by the political instability and the worsening of the human rights situation in Syria since March 2011.

  2. Cooperating with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Japan is planning for the swift distribute food and sanitary items.

  3. Parliamentary Senior Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Ryuji Yamane will announce this on Friday, February 24, at the International Conference of the Friends of the Syrian people to be held in Tunisia.
