Emergency Assistance to the Republic of Fiji in Response to the Cyclone Damage

- On December 21, the Government of Japan decided to extend emergency relief goods worth 12 million yen (tents, portable jerry cans, generators etc.) to the Republic of Fiji, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in response to the request from the Government of Fiji following serious damage by the Cyclone Evan.
- In Fiji, the Cyclone Evan caused the serious damage to the country, in particular for parts of the Northern and Western Division, the Government of Fiji reported that a large number of houses were damaged and the electricity blackouts and water shortages continued.
- In response to the request from the Government of Fiji, the Government of Japan decided to provide emergency assistance from a humanitarian point of view for the victims as well as in light of friendly relations between the two countries.
