Acceptance of a Medical Assistance Team from the Philippines

- In the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake, the Government of the Republic of the Philippines decided to dispatch a Medical Assistance Team of three medical doctors, focusing on psychosocial counseling etc, from Tuesday, June 28 to Wednesday, July 13. The team, together with Japanese medical doctors and clinical psychologists, plans to engage in mobile medical assistance operations for disaster victims including families of Filipino nationals from the northern part of Iwate Prefecture to the northern part of Miyagi Prefecture, centered on Ofunato City and Rikuzen-Takata City in the southern part of Iwate Prefecture.
- Since immediately after the Earthquake on March 11, H.E. Mr. Benigno S Aquino III, President of the Republic of the Philippines, H.E. Mr. Albert F. Del Rosario, Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines, and others have expressed deep sympathy and offered assistance. As the necessary arrangements have been made, the Government of Japan has decided to accept the medical team.
