Reception of relief supplies from Maldives

  1. In response to the Great East Japan Earthquake, the first batch of the relief supplies which were offered by the Government of Maldives arrived at Narita Airport on the morning of May 30, 2011.

  2. The first batch consists of 5,280 cans of tuna. More cans of tuna are expected to be transported to Japan in several batches and distributed in the affected region.

  3. From Maldives, Prime Minister Kan and Foreign Minister Matsumoto have received messages of sympathy and condolences by President Mr. Mohamed Nasheed, Vice President Dr. Mohamed Waheed and Acting Foreign Affairs Minister Mr. Mohamed Aslam respectively.  The Government of Japan deeply appreciates the cooperation by the Government and the people of Maldives.
