Donation of Relief Money from Kenya

  1. In response to the Great East Japan Earthquake, the Government of the Republic of Kenya made a donation of 1 million US dollars (approximately 80 million yen) as relief money for Japan.

  2. From Kenya, letters and messages of sympathy were sent from H.E. Mr. Mwai Kibaki, President of the Republic of Kenya, Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kenya, Hon. Prof. George Saitoti, Minister for Internal Security and Provincial Affairs, and Acting Minister for Foreign Affairs and others. Prime Minister Odinga visited the Embassy of Japan in Kenya, accompanied by Members of the Kenyan Parliament, Kenyan Olympic marathon medalists and others, signed the condolence book on Thursday, March 17.

  3. The Government of Japan deeply appreciates assistance extended by the Government of Kenya and its people.
