- On Tuesday, March 29, in response to the Tohoku-Pacific Ocean Earthquake, the Government of the Republic of Finland announced that the Government will provide relief money of 500,000 euro (about 57.5 million yen) through the Finnish Red Cross.
- The Government of Japan has received letters of sympathy from H.E. Ms. Tarja Halonen, President of the Republic of Finland, H.E. Ms. Mari Kiviniemi, Prime Minister, and H.E. Mr. Alexander Stubb, Minister for Foreign Affairs.
- The Government of Japan deeply appreciates a sense of solidarity expressed and assistance extended by the Government and the people of the Republic of Finland.
