Acceptance of Relief Supplies from the Government of the Republic of Korea

- In response to the Tohoku - Pacific Ocean Earthquake, an international liner YONG CAI loaded with relief supplies from the government of the Republic of Korea (ROK) is scheduled to arrive at Niigata Port at 8:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 2.
- In light of needs in disaster-stricken areas, the Government of the ROK intends to transport to Japan 480 tons (240,000 bottles) of natural mineral water, 21 tons (100,000 pouches) of boiled rice and 225 kg of Korean seasoned laver. These relief supplies are planned to be distributed in Miyagi Prefecture with support of the WFP (United Nations World Food Programme). Prior to this shipment, the government of ROK has already provided disaster-stricken areas with relief supplies such as food and water.
- From the Government of the ROK, Mr. Lee Myung-bak, President, and Mr. Kim Sung-hwan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade expressed their condolences and sympathy and sent messages that the Government of the ROK and its people will offer their utmost cooperation to Japan. The Government of Japan deeply appreciates the cooperation of the Government of the ROK.
