Arrival of a team of UNDAC

On Sunday, March 13, 2011, in response to Tohoku - Pacific Ocean Earthquake, five members out of a total of seven of the United Nations Disaster Assessment and Coordination (UNDAC) team arrived at Narita Airport.
The UNDAC team consists of 7 personnel including two Japanese. The team is dispatched by UNOCHA as an immediate response team of experts on disaster management and others. Other two members are scheduled to arrive on March 14, 2011.
The UNDAC team will be engaged in activities such as the confirmation of the situation of damage, monitoring the activities of the Government of Japan and foreign rescue teams and reporting information as the UN. The team will provide advice if necessary.
