- Today (Thursday, November 10), Japan welcomes the substantial conclusion of negotiations in Geneva, Switzerland, on the accession of the Russian Federation to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
- Having long supported the early accession of Russia to the WTO, Japan sincerely wishes the formal decision on the accession following the completion of necessary procedures, and Russia’s contribution to maintaining and strengthening of the multilateral trading system.

It is expected that the formal accession of Russia to the WTO will be decided at the 8th WTO Ministerial Conference to be held in Geneva December 15-17.
