Emergency Assistance to the heavy rain disaster in the Republic of El Salvador

- On Tuesday, October 18, the Government of Japan decided to provide emergency relief goods (blankets, sleeping pads, etc.) worth 15 million JPY to the Republic of El Salvador through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) following the heavy rain disaster, upon the request by the Government of El Salvador, from a humanitarian point of view for people affected by the disaster and in light of the friendly relations between the two nations.
- The recent heavy rain in El Salvador has left 32 people dead and more than 32,000 people forced to evacuate. Bridges, roads, houses and other infrastructures were damaged, causing blackouts in various places. According to the announcement made by the Government of El Salvador on Monday, October 17, the number of victims amount to 150,000.
