Emergency Assistance in response to the Hurricane Disaster in the Caribbean States

- On November 8 (Mon), the Government of Japan decided to extend emergency relief goods (generator, water purifier etc), equivalent to approximately 8 million yen and 7 million yen to Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, respectively, in response to the damages caused by Hurricane Tomas.
- The Hurricane Tomas left Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines with no less than 5 people dead, 20,000 affected as well as 900 houses damaged. In addition, in Saint Lucia, the whole country has been suffering from a serious damage of water supply.
- At the requests of the Governments of Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Japan has decided to extend this emergency assistance from a humanitarian viewpoint and in the light of friendly bilateral relations between Japan and Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
