Statement by the Press Secretary/ Director-General for Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the Bombing in Pakistan

- The Government of Japan is deeply shocked and angered by the bombing in Shah Hasankhel Village-located in approximately 100km southwest from Peshawar, Lakki Marwat District, North West Frontier Province, Pakistan, on January 1 which resulted in a large number of casualties. We express our heartfelt sympathy for the victims and send condolences to the bereaved families. We also express sympathy for those injured and pray for their early recovery.
- The Government of Japan firmly condemns the bombing as an inexcusable act, targeted at innocent people. We strongly denounce terrorism in any form or manifestation and reiterate our stance that there can be no justification whatsoever for any acts of terrorism.
- We hope that the people of Pakistan will overcome this tragedy. We are resolved to continue our cooperation with the international community to defeat terrorism.
