Opening of the 2010 Japan APEC Preparatory Office

- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs created the 2010 Japan APEC Preparatory
Office within the Economic Policy Division of the Economic Affairs Bureau
on April 15 (Wed).
- The Office will be responsible for various preparations for the logistics
of APEC meetings in 2010, including communication and coordination between
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other organizations and budget-related
matters pertaining to the APEC Leaders’ Summit and ministerial-level meetings
to be held in Yokohama next year, as well as the Ministers Responsible for
Trade (MRT) Meeting and the Senior Officials Meetings (SOM), to ensure these
meetings run smoothly.
- Regarding the structure of the 2010 Japan APEC Office, Mr. Yasushi Misawa (Director, Economic Policy Division) has been appointed as Director of the Office along with eight others the same day.
