Statement by the Press Secretary/ Director-General for Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the Bombing in Somalia

- A bomb attack occurred in Mogadishu, the capital city of Somalia, on
December 3 and caused heavy casualties, including ministers from the Transitional
Federal Government (TFG). Japan strongly condemns this terrorist act and
expresses its deepest condolences for those who have been killed and the
families of the victims. Japan also extends its heartfelt sympathy toward
the injured.
- It is extremely deplorable that the terrorist attack occurred whilst
peace efforts continue in Somalia, within the framework of TFG, which is
supported by international community.
- Japan will continue to offer its cooperation and provide assistance in order to stabilize the situation in Somalia in collaboration with the international community.
