Statement by the Press Secretary/ Director-General for Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Suicide Bombing in Afghanistan

- The Government of Japan is deeply shocked and angered by the suicide
bombing nearby the Embassy of India in Kabul, Afghanistan on 8th October
which resulted in a large number of casualties including officials of Afghanistan
National Police. We express our heartfelt sympathy for the victims and send
condolences to the bereaved families. We also express sympathy for those
injured and pray for their early recovery.
- The Government of Japan firmly condemns the bombing that reportedly
targeted at the Embassy of India as an inexcusable act, involving innocent
people. We strongly blame terrorism in any forms and manifestations and
reiterate our stance that there can be no justification, whatsoever, for
any acts of terrorism.
- We hope that the people of Afghanistan and India will overcome this tragedy. We are resolved to continue our cooperation with international community to defeat terrorism.
