Foreign Minister's Commendations for FY 2008

- On July 15 (Tue), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a ceremony for
the Foreign Minister’s Commendations for FY 2008 and a reception to follow
at Iikura House.
- Fifty four individuals and 26 groups (domestic award winners: 8 individuals,
9 groups, and foreign award winners: 46 individuals and 17 groups) were
commended. Certificates of commendation were bestowed upon the
award winners, and the individual award winners also received silver memorial
cups.
- Many people have been working in various fields concerned with international relations, and have been largely contributing to promoting friendly relations between Japan and other countries. The commendations aim at praising the outstanding achievements of individuals and groups among them, and gaining the further understanding and support of various strata of Japanese nationals for their activities.
