Emergency Assistance for the disaster caused by Typhoon hitting the Republic of the Philippines

- On June 25(Wed), the Government of Japan decided to provide emergency
relief goods (sleeping mattress, plastic rolls, water tanks, generators)
equivalent to approximately 20 million yen to the Government of the Republic
of the Philippines, suffering serious damage from the typhoon Frank.
- Heavy rain from typhoon Frank hitting central and southern Philippines
since June 20, caused floods in Iloilo City and surrounding areas in Panay
Island, and shipwreck of MV Princess of the Stars near Sibuyan Island. According
to the Philippines authorities, approximately 170 dead, more than 1,000
missing and 400,000 affected have been reported as of June 24.
- The Government of Japan, in response to the request from the Government of Philippines, has decided to extend emergency assistance, in light of humanitarian viewpoint as well as of friendly relations with the Republic of the Philippines.
