Meeting between Mr. Osamu Uno, Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Dr. Kyaw Myint, Minister for Health of Myanmar

- On May 26 (Mon), Mr. Osamu Uno, Vice-Minister for Foreign
Affairs, now visiting Myanmar, talked with Dr. Kyaw Myint, Minister for
Health of Myanmar, for about 40 minutes from 10:00 a.m. (Myanmar time).
- Mr. Uno informed Dr. Kyaw Myint about the dispatch of investigation
team for medical disaster relief team, which was decided on the 24th, introducing
to Dr. Kyaw Myint each of the four members of the team who had arrived,
and requested the Minister to make a quick venue for the medical activities
since there are concerns about hygienic conditions and epidemics in the
afflicted regions.
- In response, Dr. Kyaw Myint expressed deep gratitude for the cooperation provided by the Government of Japan in the field of health, and he explained the current situation of medical teams of Myanmar in the afflicted regions as well as on the dispatch of foreign medical teams who had already started their activities. As for newly dispatched medical team from Japan, Dr. Kyaw Myint said that he would discuss it in the Government after reporting to Gen. Thein Sein, the Prime Minister, and would then quickly convey the conclusion and at the same time extend best possible cooperation to the activities of the dispatched investigation team.
