The Second Meeting of the Commission on Promotion of Public-Private Cooperation for TICAD and Japan-Africa Exchange Year

  1. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held the second meeting of the Commission on Promotion of Public-Private Cooperation for TICAD and the Japan-Africa Exchange Year on February 18 (Mon) in Tokyo.  The meeting was hosted by Mr. Itsunori Onodera, Senior Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs.
     
  2. Representatives of the Government of Japan and private companies gathered at the meeting and they exchanged views on proposals submitted by private companies for the TICAD IV (Fourth Tokyo International Conference on African Development) to be held by Japan this coming May.  The proposals will be adopted before the TICAD IV is held.
     
  3. The basic message of the TICAD IV is “Towards a Vibrant Africa.”  It is highly important to support the positive changes in Africa of recent years in the fields of both politics and economy, and it is also important for government officials and private companies to cooperate with each other to promote trade and investment in Africa.  The meeting was held as part of achieving these purposes.

Commission on Promotion of Public-Private Cooperation for TICAD and the Japan-Africa Exchange Year

    Mr. Hiromasa Yonekura, Vice Chairman of the Japan Business Federation (Nippon Keidanren), chairs the commission, and Mr. Masahiro Sakane, Chairman of the Committee on Sub-Saharan Africa, Nippon Keidanren, acts as deputy.

Members are as follows:

  1. Private Sector: major trading companies, manufacturers and financial institutions
  2. Public Sector: MOFA, MOF, METI, JICA, JBIC, JETRO, NEXI, JOGMEC
