  1. On October 1 (Wed), the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) was merged with the part of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) by the enforcement of the “Law Amending Part of JICA Law” (Revised JICA Law).

  2. The New JICA will be a comprehensive aid agency to implement the three aid schemes of technical cooperation, ODA loans and grant aid in an integrated fashion.  It is expected that the New JICA will, based on the ODA policy formulated by the Government of Japan, respond appropriately to the need of the developing countries and design and implement projects effectively and efficiently from a wide perspective without being restricted to the conventional framework of aid methods.
