Signing and Conclusion of the Agreement between the Government of Japan and the Government of the United States of America concerning Security Measures for the Protection of Classified Military Information

- On August 10 (Fri), Mr. Taro Aso, Minister for Foreign Affairs, and
Mr. John Thomas Schieffer, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary
of the United States of America, signed and concluded the Agreement between
the Government of Japan and the Government of the United States of America
concerning Security Measures for the Protection of Classified Military Information.
- This Agreement mainly stipulates the procedures to appropriately protect defense-related information which is mutually provided between Japan and the U.S. and which should be protected in the recipient country within the framework of its domestic laws and regulations. The stipulation of these procedures will enable Japan and the U.S. to exchange defense-related information more smoothly and promptly.
