Deposit of the Instrument of Ratification of the Convention concerning the Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health (Convention 187)

- On July 24 (Tue), the Government of Japan deposited the instrument of
ratification of the Convention concerning the Promotional Framework for
Occupational Safety and Health (Convention 187) to the Secretariat of the
International Labour Organization (ILO) in Geneva, Switzerland (Japan is
the first Member to ratify the Convention).
- The Convention 187 was adopted at the 95th Session of the ILO held in
June 2006. The Convention stipulates to promote to prevent risks and
hazards related to occupational safety and health in each country by developing
national policy, national system and national programme, and to promote
continuous improvement of occupational safety and health.
- By the conclusion of this Convention, the Government of Japan intends to prevent occupational injuries, diseases and deaths and promote occupational safety and health.
