Establishment of Secretariat for the G8 Summit

  1. Secretariat for the G8 Summit was established in the Foreign Minister’s Secretariat on July 1 (Sun), and the opening ceremony will be held on July 2 (Mon) in the presence of Mr. Taro Aso, Minister for Foreign Affairs.  The Office will be in charge of the management and logistics, including press-related matters, of the Hokkaido Toyako Summit, which will be held in the Toyako area in Hokkaido, and the G8 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Kyoto.
  2. Mr. Hiroshi Fukada, former Deputy Director-General of the International Cooperation Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was appointed Secretary General for the G8 Summit, and about 20 other officials were assigned to the Office on July 1.
