Start of the Terrestrial Digital Broadcasting and Cable Transmission of the International TV Broadcast “NHK World TV” in Washington, D.C., and the Surrounding Areas of the U.S.A.

  1. To strengthen Japan’s capability of disseminating information, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) will soon make a contract with MHz NETWORKS, which is engaged in the broadcasting business in areas around Washington, D.C. to distribute “NHK World TV” as a digital channel of the MHz NETWORKS.
  2. With this contract, “NHK World TV” will be aired 24 hours a day from July 1 in Washington, D.C., and the surrounding areas by MHz NETWORKS’ terrestrial digital waves. It will also be retransmitted successively by four cable companies of the region (Comcast, Cox, RCN and Verizon). In this way about 1.3 million households will be able to view the program in and around Washington, D.C.
