  1. Japan and Ireland has marked the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations on 5th March (Mon) this year.
  2. On this occasion, Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan has sent the following congratulatory message to Mr. Bertie Ahern TD, Taoiseach of Ireland, and the people of Ireland.
  3. It is expected that this commemorative year will bring about a quantum leap in the amicable and friendly relations which the two countries have enjoyed for the past 50 years.
